Came in as a Heat,Smoke, and Pull Station activated. First in Companies found smoke on the 15th floor. The Job was transfered to a Ch. 6 Zone and the Ch.6 First Alarm was transmitted. A burning computer keypad under a desk was the cause of the fire. A woman in the 17th floor stairwell was unable to go any further and requested help from the Firemen. Companies operating nearby assisted her down to the lobby and out of the building. Ventilation was flawless and completed quickly. There were major water problems as the sprinkler head that was activated was unable to be plugged.Extensive Salvage work had to be done by all the Companies. The Deputy put in a Special Call for the next Due Truck Company( No. 6 ) for more Salvage Covers. The Deputy also put in a call for the Arson Squad. A major disaster was averted by the good, quick work of all the Companies that responded. No. 4 Truck Company's Driver was designed the Fire Emergency Elevator Operator and did an exceptional job making numerous trips carrying men and equipment throughout the building. Please note: Engine & Truck Company No.1 would have been first due on this zone but were disbanded several years ago.
