My great grandfather, William Coslett, was killed in the Kaufman department store fire in Pittsburgh in the 1920s (I think). I'm trying to find out more information about this fire and the company he worked for. I'm not sure where to look. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you.

Welcome Jo Ann. I'm very sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. My Grandfather was killed in the Line Of Duty too. He served with the Arnold Bureau of Fire. He was killed before I was born. I think that your best bet would be to contact Local No.1 or the Bureau of Fire. I'm sure that your Grandfather is listed in the Line of Duty Death Rolls. I also beleive that the Fire where he was killed may be listed in the "Red" Local No.1 Anniversary Yearbook and the "Blue" PBF book by the late John R. Schmidt. The Mayor's office has also been helpful to me in the past. They might still have the Fire Reports for that Fire in the City Archives. Good Luck and I really appreciate the interest you have in your Grandfather's career. Take care, Big John
